Hoping for #familyof5
Donation protected
Hi Family and Friends,
I was hoping and trying to hold off asking as long as I could, but the time has come. Many of you know of our story. My husband, Clint, and I are doing our best to help a friend to keep his grandchildren. In this process we are hoping that we will be able to gain custody of 2 out of the 5 children and that that custody will lead to adoption.
The process is long, tiresome at times and now it is getting expensive. Extra diapers, food, and sometimes even clothing and extra gas have been added to our expenses as well as finances for our lawyer and court fees.
We were given good news yesterday (1/7) about our case and hope that the good news will continue. Our next trial dates are set for January 14 and another in March. In the mean time, we will be bumping up our time with the children and they will be with us more often.
Many of you have asked how you can help, well, now I'm putting pride behind me and letting you know how. Any donation that you make will go toward the following:
- lawyer fees
- children's needs (food, clothing)
- gas for picking up/dropping off/getting to child care
My prayer is that your help is not in vain. My worst thought about asking for help is that you do help and we are unable to get custody. But my best thought from this whole experience is that we had these children in our lives for just a few minutes. I have taken them to church, said night time prayers with them and am working on Bible verses with them. For a brief moment, they knew God's love through our family. My prayer is that they continue that, whether it's with us or their grandparents.
Matthew 6:31-34 has been my scripture since October.
"Do not be anxious, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, In what shall we be clothed? For after all these things do the Gentiles see; for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. BUT seek ye first His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Be not therefore anxious for the morrow: for the morrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil therof."
Clint and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts and our way to repay may not be with money but with a willingness to serve Him and raise our children in the nurture and admonition of His love. An upbringing that they may not receive without us.
Thank you for being a blessing to us,
Laura & Clint
