Starry stonewort management

Donation protected
The invasive aquatic plant, starry stonewort,  has been found in Geneva Lake. If allowed to spread through-out Geneva Lake,  it could significantly change the lake's biological community, impacting fishing, swimming, boating and water quality.   To prevent it from spreading and causing a significant impact on Geneva Lake's biological community, we wish to make an aggressive and timely (spring 2019)  attempt to eradicate/control this invasive.  Using hydraulic  dredging in the area where it is found we will remove the plant and its reproductive portions (bulbils) found in the sediment.  Cost estimates for dredging are around $150,000.  The money will go to the Geneva Lake Environmental Agency (GLEA)  an inter-municipal lake management agency for starry stonewort management. The removal of this threat to Geneva Lake by dredging will benefit all who live around, recreate in  and enjoy this high quality lake.  As the Director of the GLEA, threats to Geneva Lake's quality are concerning.  We need to act and act fast if we hope to, at least, prevent it from spreading in Geneva Lake.  On behalf of Geneva Lake we thank you for you assistance.
