We founded Shoot The Breeze Comics 2 years ago and what was originally a group of a few folks with a podcast grew into something larger and stronger. We built an entire website complete with reviews of comics from almost every Diamond distributed publisher, breaking news, and thoughtful opinions pieces.
The website was founded with the mission of being "Heroes For The Readers." We strived to be the best comic book press website we could be.
However, with 2 years of work under our belt, we have reached the conclusion that we need to be the best, but in a different way.
A new age has come. A new age where anyone from any walk of life can pick up a comic book and find a story that matters to them.
With so many amazing books releasing every Wednesday, we need to be the website that reports on them. We need to be the website that shows people that there are books besides Batman and Spider-Man. To show people that there are books that are targeted to their identities and experiences.
From here on out, this website will strive to connect indie creators, creators of color, LGBTQA+ creators, and all those with a story to tell to long-term and new readers. We want folks to know that there are more than just the Big 2. There is an entire world of undiscovered gems from diverse voices. We want to uncover these gems and bring them to folks in this new age.
(But don't worry, Bats and Spidey will still be along for the ride.)
However, we can't make this shift alone.
So, we come to you: the people. We want to launch this new age, but we need help.
Under Shoot The Breeze Media LLC, we hope to launch On Comics Ground. A new website featuring all previous content while focusing on our intended goals of strengthening this industry with the new material coming to comic book stores every week.
We want to work our tails off daily to discuss, review, and report on all of it for you the fans. We still will be the heroes for you readers, but this is the next step for us.
We ask that you come on this journey alongside us. We hope to raise 3 thousand dollars to fund our yearly fees including hosting, domain, new branding artwork, podcast hosting fees for our current content and more, the business emails we use, our spam blocker to protect the website.
All of this and more will be used to make our website, our platform, our space where anyone can come and enjoy the comics we all love, the best it can be.
