Stef's SRS

Hi you!

My name is Stef Sanjati. I am a 21 year old transgender woman from Toronto, Canada, and I have been working on saving up for one of my gender confirmation surgeries, my SRS (sexual reassignment surgery).

EDIT: I have temporarily lowered the goal to $6000 to focus on transportation, hotel, and food while in Thailand as it has been brought to my attention that it may be possible to have the medical costs covered by the Ontario government. I will update this as soon as I have more information.

For every transgender person, these surgeries can be a little different. Some trans people don't want them at all - whatever makes that person feel at home in their body is what they typically pursue.

SRS is the most commonly known surgery for transgender folks - it is sometimes known as "bottom surgery", and other times it is mislabeled as "the surgery". It is the reconstruction of your genitalia to better match your gender. 

I recently unerwent FFS (Facial Feminization Surgery) thanks to crowdfunding efforts and the generosity of my viewers and you kind folks, and I really wanted to pay for this surgery on my own. I was on track, but recent events and changes on YouTube (which is my full time job, where I documented my FFS and will document my SRS) have reduced my income. If this wasn't important or if it was purely a cosmetic surgery, I would bite the bullet and extend my timeline. However, gender dysphoria is no small thing to deal with, and I don't want to wait any longer than I have to for this.

I do not plan on funding the entirety of my SRS with crowdfunding - I only want to lessen the blow, so do not feel pressured to donate! This is entirely optional. Take care of yourself and your needs first. 

I will be going to Dr. Suporn in Chonburi, Thailand for this procedure. The reason I am choosing Dr. Suporn specifically is because his methods are different from North American doctors, like Dr. Brassard, for example. He is, in many ways, a pioneer in SRS. I will do the exact same kind of thing with my SRS. I want both trans folks and other people to be able to know what the process and recovery are like, how important this is to transgender people, and I want resources and education available for people who are interested! I am not keen on sugar coating the experience or making it look easier than it is - I will be nitty gritty and real, and it will all be available for anyone to view on YouTube for free, of course.

The end goal is $10,000 USD  - this may change as I get a better understanding of the costs, whether it rises or decreases. I will be transparent about changes so that everyone who is interested in donating can know exactly where the money goes.

The surgery itself was last quoted to be around $18,000 USD. Round trip flights to Chonburi for myself and one other person, as I will absolutely need assistance in recovery, estimate around $1300-$1500 USD. As I will need to stay in Chonburi for a month to make sure recovery is smooth, hotel costs for a month of staying should be between $1500-$1600 USD. Taking all of this into account, and the money that I have saved, is how I reached a goal of $10,000 USD.  Any changes I make will be listed below.

After undergoing FFS thanks to the nearly two thousand generous, wonderful donors and sponsors, I hope you can see how gender confirmation surgeries can improve our quality of life and mental health. I cannot fathom how I felt before FFS, and I know SRS will do the same thing for me. It will pretty much wrap up my transition - I will be able to move on with my life and to save for my future instead of my surgeries. 

If all goes well, I would love to get this done before the end of the year. If not, definitely the first half of next year! I will keep you posted on this.
