Steve Kucenski Memorial Fund to help his family with funeral costs.
Steve passed unexpectedly on October 24th 2018. He was the husband of Christine Anne (Barrett) Kucenski, to whom he was married on July 5, 2014.
Born September 3, 1961 in Ridgway, Elk County, PA, he was a son of Nancy (Grandinetti) Kucenski of Ridgway, Elk County and the late Eugene Kucenski.
Stephen was a graduate of Ridgway High School and Gannon University.
He was a professional musician for over 40 years. An accomplished accordion player, he played solo and with many bands. He toured with the Frank Yankovic band, a Grammy award wining polka band, from the late 70s through the early 90s.
Other bands he played with included, the Johnny Koenig Band, the Polka Quads, and the Walter Ostanek Band. He also played in various nursing homes in Berks County, and hundreds of Oktoberfests all over the country; most recently he played in Wyomissing at the Works.
He enjoyed traveling, attending his son Andrew's concerts, and Trivia Nights with Team Polkageist.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Veronica C., wife of Brad A. Bauscher of Wernersville; Alexander J. Smith of McLean, VA; Andrew M. Kucenski of Laureldale and Claudia C. Smith of Laureldale.
Other survivors include his siblings; Tom Kucenski and Patricia (Kucenski) Prindle, both of Ridgway, Elk County.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 27th at 2 p.m. at Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A viewing will be held from 12 noon until 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
