Rallying for the Rudermans
Last month, Steve Ruderman, “Rudy” to those who are closest to him, received the earth-shattering news that he had stage IV colon cancer. Unfortunately, emergency surgery was unsuccessful in removing the cancer. On May 19th, one day after his 51st birthday, he was transferred to a hospice care facility. Steve has always been a man full of life and energy, bringing everyone he knew laughter and happiness, which is why this news came as such a shock to us all.
Steve graduated from SUNY Albany and Brooklyn Law School. After opening his own firm, he settled into the insurance industry and has spent the last 13 years of his career at Arch insurance. He had been so dedicated to his work and his colleagues, that he continued to work even after being diagnosed. Ever since hearing the news, his friends have been devastated and have been looking for a way to support the Rudermans through this most difficult time.
Anyone who knows Steve well, knows that Rudy is a reserved and gentle man with a big heart, a true affection for his family, and a never-ending dedication to sport and coffee. Steve also loves to read Presidential autobiographies.
Steve has been married to his amazing wife, Suzanne, for over 20 years. He is a loving husband and father of two beautiful children, Jessica who is 8 years old and Josh who is 2 years old.
Those of you that know Steve well, know that he has regularly helped others, raising money for a variety of charitable causes through his dedication to running. He would never ask for your help, but as good friends of his, we are asking you to help Steve and his family. They are still in shock and are rapidly accumulating expenses. We would like your help to give him the comfort that he has friends who care about him, and will not let the Rudermans carry this burden alone—instead to show him that those he surrounded himself with rallied together to provide the Rudermans any help we can.
Please consider making a contribution to help support his family. No amount is too small.
