Steven D Sharp Memorial Fund
Donation protected
The Steven D. Sharp Memorial Fund is to raise money for firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, dispatchers, police, air medical, and search & rescue members actively serving or whom have served (retired) Sheridan County, Wyoming.
Due to the stresses first responders are exposed to, they have increased rates of PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), depression, anxiety, substance abuse and suicide. The Primary focus of this fund is to build awareness and give access to trauma treatment for anyone included above.
Steve served Sheridan County as a Firefighter for over a decade and as a Paramedic for several years before that. He was born and raised in Sheridan and it was his life's journey to help others. As he retired in 2010 a sense of his identity and purpose had disappeared and his battle with alcoholism began. The alcohol was a symptom of his PTSD which ultimately took his life. Over the years his family found very little resources available and now in his death even less that focus on PTSD or trauma treatment. It is our personal goal to change that and to give back to the community he loved and continue to serve in his name.
The money raised will be used to start, support or contribute to the local community. I will continue to work with Sheridan County Fire & Rescue, Mountains Edge Counseling, LLC, The Darby Pledge and/or anyone interested in this cause.
