Funding the next chapter in life!
Hey everyone! After much deliberation, I have decided to make a huge leap and get out of my comfort zone. I am taking a 1-way road trip to California. I had planned this trip with me and my dog and best friend, Chunkers, but before we could leave, I was forced to put him down. It really hurt to have to do that. But he's in a better place I hope.
After that, a really good friend of mine from High School passed away and the hits felt like they just kept coming. So I snapped out of the rut and said "I've gotta make this happen!"
By trade I am a photographer and digital media professional. I plan on taking whatever odd jobs I can along the way to keep on going. I have friends scattered througout the country I haven't seen in years and I want to pay them a visit and take loads of pictures and film this awesome journey along the way. I am purchasing a new domain and blogging about the hilariousness that will ensue. I just need enough funds to keep gas in the tank and food in my stomach and keep a few bills paid. If I have enough to spend a night at a hotel, that would be awesome.
I plan on selling pretty much everything I own to get started, keeping only what I need. With your help, I can make this trip a huge success!
I currently have a Canon 60D, a decent mic, and a few lenses so I can shoot in HD. It'll be the only things of value that aren't already for sale, lol.
The goal is to really make some connections along this trip. See places I've never seen or heard of before. Meet interesting people. Tell their story. Taste the local brews and get a vibe for the regional differences and similarities between each place I visit.
With contract work is drying up here in Florida, I feel now is the best time to make this happen. The weather will probably be an issue, so I need to also pick up some tires for the trusty Kia Sorento that will be my chariot on this voyage.
The goal is travel up the east coast, from Florida to Maryland. Then across the country until I get to Exeter, California. I'll be couch surfing as hotels are not in the budget.
I plan on hitting the road in the next 2-4 weeks. I am nervous as hell as I'm starting over but I think I've got all the tools I need to hit the ground running when I get to California.
Your help will mean the absolute world to me. I have been planning this trip with my dog but after losing him, the wind got knocked out of me. He traveled everwhere with me. I took him to bars, work events, and he was just amazing. Everyone loved his big goofy face. So this trip is honor of Chunkers and my friend who passed away; Henry Warner Jr.
Luckily, gas has gotten cheaper since I first planned, so this trip is much more realistic than originally thought. I've dialed in the numbers as accurately as I can and I hope I'm right. But either way, I need to stop worrying and just do it.
Life is short. And I'm not getting any younger. So join me in this awesome journey!
I will be posting up links to the website and videos of the comedy that I know will ensue on this adventure. Unless I am mauled by a panther. Then you'll just see that on the news.
