Stone Memorial Sculpture for David
Donation protected
Dear Rye and Portsmouth surrounding communities.
We lost an amazing young human-being in a tragic accident. The funeral and saying goodbye to David was overflowing with people who loved him, and cared about this sunshine boy, who impacted so many of us in such an amazing way. I secured a local artist, stone sculptor, who is also a marine expert and I think we all agree that David deserves a memorial representing what David loved the most, the ocean. Maybe a beautiful matching bench , so we could always visit David, take a seat, talk to him, think of him, remember him, pay tribute to him, love him, miss him, cry a little, have lunch with him, and never ever be forgotten. We already have first sketches and they look amazing. If we raise enough monies we could have two memorial sites, one at Rye Harbor and one at Portsmouth High School for the class of 2018.
All of the funds that are raised from this site will be given to the Portsmouth High School Class of 2018 Student Council to be used at their discretion (possibly for a bench, statue or etc. to be placed at the High School or Rye Harbor).
Any additional funds will be placed in the David W. Kohlhase Jr. scholarship fund, C/O People's United Bank, 1555 Lafayette Road, Portsmouth NH 03801. This scholarship fund will be used for those entering the Building Trades/Vocational Programs in years to come.
David's name will be added to a monument that already exists at Rye Harbor, that his family, friends and the seacoast fishing community have been involved with for years.
The Kohlhase family invites you all to embrace and celebrate David's life.
