Storm Irma Greenhouse Rebuilding
Donation protected
I understand the hurricanes has hurt a lot of people and this couple of 73 year old business owners could use our help.
Jon and Vesta Garber has owned a wholesale plant nursery in Saint Augustine, FL for over 40 years.
The Small Business Administration Declined their Disaster Loan (FEMA) application because of medical bills from a couple year ago (Jon had open heart surgery which sat the couple back.)
What Happened:
Hurricane Irma left their largest greenhouse flat on the ground, ripped the roofs on all three greenhouses, left another bearly standing with over half of the support post snap in half.
Above: Greenhouse #1 totally destroyed.
Above: Back of greenhouse #2 Mangled.
Below: Front of greenhouse #2 collapsed plus bench damaged inside.
Below: Greenhouse #3 (lucky it stayed standing) Can see greenhouse is leaning to the left. The 4"X6" boards snapped at base.
What is needed:
Funds for the tear down and removal of greenhouse #1 above and roofs for the two remaining greenhouses.
Funds to secure greenhouse #2 above by getting new lumber for the front and having the bows repaired in the back.
Funds to reinforce greenhouse #3 above by putting additional support braces between each snapped board and straightening greenhouse.
Cost:
Each roll of plastic (roof) cost around $500.00 X 3.
The support braces (boards) run approximately $30.00 X 40 (for both remaing greenhouses.)
Concrete, bolts, and other supplies to connect support braces approximately $1,000.00.
Labor for green house #2 and #3 approximately $6,000.00.
Clean up and removal of greenhouse #1 will cost over $10,000.00
Bench replacement or repair for greenhouse #2 will be over $6,000.00
Other ways we could use help:
Please share on all your social media as couple is elderly and not real tech savy.
Funds are needed as soon as possible.
