On Monday, October 12, 2015, Coach Ray Nunez and the Lawrence High School Boys Basketball Program will be hosting the 3rd annual Lancer Stride For Pride. The second annual race last year honored Headmaster Michael Fiato. This upcoming Lancer Stride For Pride will be in honor of Mayor Dan Rivera! For many years, he has committed his life advocating for Lawrence residents to have opportunities to succeed in their lives. Mayor Rivera sees the strengths and talents in all the community people he comes across...he utilizes their abilities to help them believe in themselves that they can overcome many life obstacles and make Lawrence and their lives better.

With the generosity of so many people, we can play a crucial role in actively participating in the Great Work one special person has been doing for many years in the City of Lawrence. This third annual Lancer Stride For Pride is truly important - it is to honor Mayor Rivera's long life commitment to so many youth and residents in Lawrence through his efforts as a Military Police Officer, an Economic Development Director for Congressman Marty Meehan, an At Large City Councilor, and as a Board of Trustee member for Northern Essex Community College. The RUN becomes a symbol of that belief that Mayor Dan Rivera has given to so many young people. There are many more young kids in Lawrence that are yearning for that same belief that so many been fortunate to have received over the years. As a LPS student said, “Mayor Rivera taught me that a Lawrence kid can make a positive difference in his city. He has been working hard to show the surrounding towns that Lawrence is a safe city with hardworking families and committed students who strive to achieve a higher education. One day, I want to be in his shoes to make la diferencia positiva in the community and in the classroom.Thank you Mayor for all the positive changes!”

Your participation in the Lancer Stride For Pride will support the Lawrence Lancers Boys’ Basketball Program to continue helping these inner city youth have a safe haven. It would provide meals after-school as they study and participate in constructive activities. Also, it would provide scholarships and educational opportunities for Lawrence’s young student-athletes that strive to defeat the game of life.

The $25 entry fee may be made out to Suenos Basketball - Attention: Lancer Stride For Pride. You can also register online for the race at http://www.lightboxreg.com/ lancers.

We thank you in advance for your support!!

Gracias,

Coach Ray Nunez.
