Student Affected by Government Shutdown

I’m a student at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. I recently had to leave my full-time job because of the start of the semester and just began working on campus, so that I can be more involved with my academics while maintaining a decent financial status. However, this plan became a hassle quickly. With the government shutdown myself and other students cannot access IRS tools and resources to make the necessary changes to our FAFSA Applications and will not receive funding. Not receiving funding for my academics if my biggest concern, but now I will not be able to receive funding for housing on campus. My landlord has issued a complaint to me because of the lack of aid coming from my school, but I won’t have any updates until the government shutdown is over. Classes begin on the 7th and the last enrollment date is the 14th. I will have to come up with the funds to enroll in my courses without the help of FAFSA in the following weeks. And I cannot do this without the help of generous others willing to help. Anything will give me a push closer to enrolling. In conclusion, I hope that this issue also prompts noise about the government shutdown ending as it effects many lives of families and students! Thank you.
