Students For Horn in the West

Tax deductible
The Southern Appalachian Historical Association presents Horn in the West!

Horn in the West is apart of the only current organization in the Boone region that dedicates its time to both preserving and teaching the history of Watauga County.!

Each summer, the organization puts on a play called Horn in the West . The show is the longest running revolutionary reenactment and has attracted roughly 1.4 million visitors since its opening in the summer of 1952!

Apart from the performance during the summer, Horn in the West also houses a living museum called the Hickory Ridge Living Museum which consists of five cabins on the grounds; actors are paid to perform the role of a settler who would’ve lived in the area and inform visitors of the role they may have played in this society.

This organization heavily depends on the support of locals in the community to provide their time and resources in order to preserve this crucial piece of history in our region.

Help us keep the Horn in the West tradition alive for our community, families and actors!
