The Summit Free Market Building
Tax deductible
One person's trash is another's treasure! At the Summit Free Market, you can give away household items you no longer need, and find sports equipment, toys, furniture, tools, and household goods to take away. It’s all FREE.
Currently, Summit Free Market events take place on two consecutive Saturdays in both the spring and fall. A permanent structure will allow Summit residents to exchange reusable items year-round.
The Summit Conservancy is leading a community-wide fundraising effort to build a permanent structure to house the Summit Free Market. This student-run initiative helps keep more than 10 tons of reusable material from the waste stream annually and saves money for the city (and taxpayers!) in disposal fees. It has also has helped hundreds of community members furnish their homes and find needed items. Although there are some online resources, Summit's Free Market building will be the first facility in New Jersey dedicated exclusively to the FREE exchange of reusable items.

Total cost of the project is $375,000; a little more than $215,000 has been raised already. In order to complete the building, a little more than $159,000 is needed. We appreciate donations in any amount, large or small. Let's work together to give Summit a sustainable future!
