Superheroes Fight Childhood Obesity

The majority of American medical costs are due to chronic disease predicated upon modifiable patient behavior. In other words, our habits are making us sick, and perhaps the most important, and most challenging to address, are those factoring into childhood obesity.

Obesity is associated with diabetes, heart and vascular disease, breathing problems, joint pain and breakdown, and a host of others, and the severity of these becomes worse earlier when the obesity begins in childhood. Doctors and other medical professionals don’t have good tools to do anything but damage control. We’re asking for your help to create such a tool.

Superheroes are fit, active, have a positive connotation, and are used to sell everything from toys and video games to backpacks and toothbrushes. This project harnesses that proven, powerful force to create trading cards that deliver easy, simple messaging designed to help kids develop healthy dietary and exercise behavior from an early age. Top-notch art means that kids will keep and collect the cards and, hopefully, internalize and put into practice the advice on them.

Every cent given will go to the creation and production of these cards, which will then go to points of distribution, like pediatricians’ offices, where they can do the most good.
