The conservative voice in theatre is a truly marginalized voice. My non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, Stage Right Theatrics, Inc., has been created to promote conservative plays and the artists who create them.
Stage Right Theatrics has already produced the Conservative Theatre Festival on Jan. 7 in Columbus, Ohio. We presented six short original plays with conservative themes and have garnered some publicity ever since.
I am seeking funds to go toward operational costs of my next production: "The Anarchist" by world-renowned American playwright--and recent conservative convert--David Mamet. This play was written after his admission in a Village Voice article that he is no longer a "brain dead liberal."
Funds that I collect from this effort will go toward paying for the venue; paying the director, actors, and stage manager; paying for the rights to Mr. Mamet's play; paying for a visiting scholar to speak about Mr. Mamet's critical reception since his admission; and paying for marketing and promotions for the production. would greatly appreciate any assistance to be in place before April 17, 2017 as this is when I must apply for a grant from the Greater Columbus Arts Council; the Council requires me to show sources of funding other than that from my own pocket.
Beneficiaries of this effort will be the (at present) nameless conservative artists who have been closeted because of the progressive orthodoxy of the theatre world. In addition, local performers and theatre enthusisats will have access to plays and ideas they do not normally get in the theatre.
Stage Right Theatrics needs your help! Won't you please consider helping another voice have a seat at the theatrical table?
Contributors to Stage Right Theatrics will automatically be added to our mailing list and receive 20% off ticket prices for future shows.
