Stay Strong Stay Sassy!
Our dear friend, Sarah Sharkey, is one of the funniest and most charismatic people we know. Bringing love and laughter to everything she does, Sarah is the kind of person whose time, energy, and spirit are always available to those she loves and supports. Having a person like Sarah in your life is something to treasure.
In August 2018, out of the blue, Sarah received a brutal diagnosis of stage four cancer. With no previous signs or symptoms, this cancer came as a huge and devastating shock. Unfortunately, the cancer was not the only distressing diagnosis Sarah would receive from the doctors. Due to a broken vertebrae in her neck, Sarah must also undergo immediate spinal surgery to repair the damage and stabilise her neck and spine. Obviously, either one of these diagnoses would be traumatic to receive on it's own, however, receiving two such intense and life changing pieces of news in one week, is truly unbelievable - but here it is, and it is happening to Sarah!
That being said, to know Sarah, is to know that she is an extremely strong woman, and, is more than ready to fight this battle! Of course, besides herself, Sarah has a lot to fight for being the mom of a young family. There's Delilah (5 almost 6!) and Franklin (3.5) her two beautiful children, and Tim, her caring husband and best friend.
Sarah and her family are facing an incredibly long road. Recovery from her spinal surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, and all the resulting follow-up, will be an intense journey to say the least. This is an extremely scary and totally unexpected situation that Sarah and Tim now find themselves in. So, that is why we have started this fund. Our beautiful and amazing friends need our help!
How can you help?
Please consider donating to this fund! All proceeds go directly to Sarah and her family. The money you so generously give, will make a huge impact in helping Sarah and Tim's family get through the long and rigorous battle ahead. Mortgage payments, property taxes, and heating bills don’t care about cancer, or Sarah, but you do! Here is one way you can help. Each and every donation, no matter how big or small, will make an immediate difference in the lives of Sarah and her family.
Your support matters!
While it's hard to imagine what Sarah and her family are feeling right now, what we know for sure is - they absolutely appreciate and gain strength from all the love and care you are sending to them! Through our donations, I know we will be able help support them through this journey in a multitude of truly meaningful ways.
A sincere and heartfelt thank you to you all, from not only the Sharkey/Farley families - but from all of Sarah's dear friends and supporters who love her dearly.
Also, Sarah and Tim would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and care at both Grand River Hospital and the London Health Sciences Centre.
