Help Hannah Heal
Many of you have probably noticed Kinderparty (Hayden Griswold) going quiet on social media over the past week or two. The reason for his silence is that his girlfriend, Hannah, has just been diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, a type of lymph node cancer. While her diagnosis and the determination of a precise course of treatment are ongoing, tests this week are expected to confirm the cancer is stage 4, meaning it will require aggressive therapy.
Hayden has been spending a ton of time working on making sure Hannah is as comfortable and healthy as possible; this has recently included many trips to the grocery store in an attempt to ensure Hannah gets all the nutrients she needs. However, the time and money required to support an optimal diet are non-trivial. After talking with Hayden, he agreed that the best way for the community to show financial support during this time is to fund a diet program, through Blue Apron (www.blueapron.com), to arrange for delivery of ingredients to his door on a regular basis. This will free up his time and money to care for Hannah, and will help bring them both peace of mind.
The 720$ called for in this fundraiser will cover three meals per week for three months, from October through December (OneFrameLink has stepped in to fund September). Any funds raised above the goal will allow for an extension of the program or more frequent meals, based on what Hayden and Hannah feel would be most helpful.
Hayden has been here for the Marvel community and the FGC as a whole when we've needed him; he has provided valuable coaching, advice, encouragement, and content across the scene, and has been a huge influence in dragging the Marvel scene back from the brink of extinction. Please support him during this difficult time with the same enthusiasm he has shown while supporting the Marvel community, and the FGC as a whole. UPDATE: Hey folks, this is Brian "ThatPhageGuy" Peddie, I'm the one who set up this campaign on Hayden's behalf. The voracity with which the community has responded was unexpected, and we're quickly approaching the point where it isn't useful for all the contributed funds to be spent on food. As a result, any money we recieve over 1,750$ may be spent on other items related to Hannah's care, including gas money to get her to and from the doctor and cosmetic items to stave off the dehumanizing effect the necessary treatments may have. Any money not spent on food will be accompanied by an update here so you all know how your donations were helpful. Thank you all so, so much for your generosity.
UPDATE 2 (9/13/17): Hey folks, Brian here with an update from Hayden, including some more info on what he and Hannah will be facing and how future funds will be spent:
"Kinderparty here! Thank you everyone who has responded with such enthusiasm and kindness to our campaign. We are overwhelmingly grateful for the kind words and generosity that everyone has shared with us these past days. We met our goal for Blue Apron and our first delivery arrives on September 22nd!
Unfortunately, not everything has been good news, and Hannah's condition will require much more attention and treatment than we thought. Original estimates had us at 8 weeks of Chemo beginning this week, but for now we must focus on stabilizing her condition and avoiding immediate threats to her health. We hope to begin Chemo soon as we are all still 100% pushing for a cure, and treatments could carry on as long as 6 months or more.
Every bit of support that is sent our way will go to contributing toward these costs and keeping Hannah as healthy and comfortable as we can during these trying times. Thank you to everyone who continues to show their love to us, reminding us that we are never alone in this. Together, we will make sure Hannah is healthy again as soon as possible.
