Hey Everyone!
I'm starting a podcast called Libertarian Lesbian. For the past few months, I've been working on my social media presence, teaching myself everything from website development to audio and video production. I've put everything together in the cheapest way possible but some help in moving forward would really get this off the ground so I'm able to get my message out there for people to hear. Since my domain name was way too easy to get and there are hardly any lesbians who speak out about this, I'm taking the reigns and making it happen. I'm tired of the constant attacks on our President and I'm done being a pawn for the liberal movement.
If you've been paying attention to the social and political climate and you're a Libertarian, Conservative, Republican, Constitutionalist, or anyone who has seen the damaging effects of media and far-left policies on our country, you know how important it is to start speaking up. As a lesbian, I'm considered to be a minority and 'marginalized' by the left. My experience from being exposed to liberals pushed me to learn more about politics and in doing that I actually became more conservative. My voice is needed because if I'm going to be used as a scapegoat for the Democratic Party, I have a responsibility to make sure my opinion is heard on the matter. I believe in Liberty and Freedom which isn't what I'm seeing most people of my sexual orientation and age (27) stand up for. But I used to have the same mindset as them. After understanding how I fell into that belief system and how regressive it actually is, I know my perspective is imperative to help people see why the left acts the way they do and figure out what we can do to combat the issues that erode what this country is supposed to be. If it helps liberals who have begun to question the movement they're a part of to see the truth, I would be very happy about that as well.
I plan on having guests from the entire conservative spectrum to start necessary discussions and have all points of view expressed. I hope to educate myself and everyone else in the process by allowing people to voice their positions in a productive way. Obviously, I will allow liberals to come on as well. My entire life experience has brought me to this place and I understand the risks involved in having the libertarian/conservative/limited government views that I do. But I've moved around, had various jobs, and built my life up to what it is by being accountable and self-reliant so I know what I can deal with. I think it's important to confront the issues we face but I also see this as an opportunity to show people what I truly believe.
I think we get caught up in the battles so often that our personalities have to take a back seat so I also want people to get a glimpse of who we really are and what we believe. I have a sense of humor, I'm not perfect, I will not edit myself to be more conservative or liberal just to please everyone, and I want to be a voice to shed more light on the different kinds of people who have my set of beliefs because this narrative that only 'straight, white, males' are on this side needs to stop. Also, now that I'm out of my 'angry phase' after realizing I had been used by liberalism to push an agenda I wasn't aware of, I won't be flying off the handle like I did when I first woke up to it. I don't plan on being someone who wants to shock people and my goal isn't to offend anyone. Being a gay, young, woman, and not being a liberal will do those things anyway.
There are so many people who want to get their ideas out there about politics and while I don't claim to know everything, I take the responsibility of educating myself very seriously. Now that I've started researching and connecting with people, I'm excited about this and I find politics to be very fun to learn about. I'm a nerd! When I get curious, I want to know as much as possible. Social media has brought so many different subsections, cultures, and ideas together and that has extended to politics, as well. On the surface, we have Democrats, Republicans, and Libertarians but underneath there are people with their own life experiences and views that are relating to more specific views, too.
I'm not promoting any of these but it's interesting how many different views there are. Some of them can be considered and others need to be exposed. This isn't even everything. Opinions by different nationalities, cultures, race, sexuality, economic background, religions also play a factor. There are so many people who believe in true freedom and liberty that fall into the right wing spectrum and we need to work together to get our country on track. I love the support I've gotten so far and we have a 'yuge' opportunity to really make a difference in the next four years and I can't wait to be a part of it!

I've made quite a bit happen in a short period of time.
Here are the metrics from my first article posted on 02/02/2017:
With any project, especially online, it's hard to know what opportunities I'll have going forward, but here are some basic plans:
Continue to write articles
Launch my podcast on various platforms (iTunes, Stitcher, YouTube etc) by using audio and video
I may get advertisers in the future but when the subject matter is mostly political, I have to be careful. I'll never accept someone telling me what I should support or what to talk about. If anything, I'd like to get to the point where I can promote small businesses that share the same values as me just to help them out.
Interview guests from different areas in the political spectrum.
Why I started a GoFundMe campaign:
To be honest, I started this because it's needed and I have to speak up. I want to do it and I really do feel like, in some ways, my entire life and everything I've learned has lead up to this point. It may sound crazy but I gave up everything I worked for in a bigger city just to move back to the small town I'm from to pursue this. I'm good at finding the cheapest way to do things since it's what I've had to do but I can only learn my way around technology and equipment issues, so much.
I have personal finances to keep up with and it has become a burden to balance those with the investments I need to make this work. I'll only invest the money into this and some into rent because I'm sure I can grow it enough to make some kind of profit. My goal is to be able to support myself with the income generated from this business but I'm aware of how long it could take to make a profit so I'm focusing on the long-term. I'm also aware that this could go nowhere. But that's not something I'll accept easily.
What I'm planning to do with the money:
My laptop isn't anywhere near the level it needs to be to process a video podcast or edit it. It's used and from 2009. I bought a few years ago and the charger is hanging on by a thread. I don't need the most updated computer to start out but I can find something relatively cheap that will work a lot better than this.
Invest in software to record and edit my videos and audio. I've found some good options that are around a reasonable price ($100-$200). I won't need anything high end right now because getting a better computer would take care of many problems I'm having.
Pay to keep my website running
Run ads on other websites and social media
Other costs like storage and possibly hiring someone to work on my website and edit my media
Anything helps but the more I get, the more I can do with it. The space, microphone, and camera I have will work just fine but I do plan on upgrading all of those at some point. As this grows, I'll be investing more money and time so there will always something to buy.
