Crop pollination by migratory beekeeping operations presents a highly concentrated convergence of bees where diseases may be transmitted and spread as hives are transported throughout the US. We conducted the first manipulative experiment to examine the role of migratory beekeeping on disease spread (www.experiment.com/beekeeping) . The paper has been peer reviewed and accepted for publication! Since this was a crowd funded project, we chose an open source journal to make the results available to everyone.
