Help Big Sister Rosie become Bunny’s Guardian!
Donation protected
Hello, I’m Rosie! I’m 21 & I go by she/her! I’m a local activist, freelance artist, and aspiring gothic romance writer! I’m also a mother to multiple rowdy cats — and hopefully, soon to be guardian of our vibrant girl!
WHO IS BUNNY?
Bunny is my darling little sister, and quite honestly with you, has always been my whole world, even since we were small. I have her name protected with an alias, but don’t be mistaken! She is the cutest, funniest diva you could meet. Bunny is 14, fifteen in August!

HOW DID WE GET HERE?
In my childhood, due to some unfortunate events, both Bunny and I fell into guardianship under my grandparents in Oklahoma. Sadly, what was intended to be a safe place turned into hell for me when I entered my teens, and was verbally, physically, and sexually abused by my grandfather.
At sixteen, I informed my father.
I was tired of being blamed for the violence perpetrated against me. When my father finally came to me, I hadn’t even fully wrapped my mind around the fact I would have to leave my sister in exchange for my freedom and independence.
Leaving Bunny was the hardest decision I had ever made in my entire life.
As me and her are technically half-siblings, my father had no authority to bring her with us. Here, I knew that I could stay, and risk losing myself to increasingly more precarious manic / depressive episodes, or seek a better future, and eventually fight to have Bunny back.
I left.
Immediately after, my sister went under the guardianship of my gentle aunt. My aunt is absolutely wonderful.
Unfortunately, my aunt's health has fallen short, and it was brought to my attention recently that she would no longer be able to care for Bunny, and I have a choice: take up guardianship myself, or allow her to go into foster care.
None of us are going to let that happen.
Thankfully, with community support, I will hopefully give her the life she deserves here in Texas!
SO WHAT DO WE NEED YOU TO DO TO #BRINGBUNNYHOME ! ? :

WHAT HAVE WE ACCOMPLISHED, AND WHAT IS REMAINING?
1. Our apartment application has been approved for a two bedroom, two bath. I will be going in on Thursday, March 27th to verify meeting the income requirements. Our move-in date, if all goes well, will be April 12th.
2. Monday, March 24th, I have an appointment with a local UPS Store to get my fingertips scanned for FBI IdHSC / background check. My partner will be doing the same.
3. I have finished the paperwork for CANIS, which is the Child Abuse and Neglect Information System. Once the FBI background check is complete, I will attach the documents, and it will be sent to the judge.
4. We have a hearing date established. I will be leaving April 30th to make the drive to Oklahoma. Our hearing will take place on May 1st.
5. I have an appointment with my therapist to ‘renew’ my esa letter for the new complex this Tuesday.
6. Following when I sign the lease, I will need to open an account with the electricity company.
7. I will need to get Bunny a bed frame and a mattress in the month of April.
8. Bring Bunny home to texas!
I will be adding a document explaining what all this money is going to / after each purchase within the next day.
WHY 2,450.00$ ?
1. Apartment application costed 250.00$.
2. Pro-rated rent: 1,218. ( including utility. )
3. Deposit: 300-400.
4. Upfront energy set-up: 50-100.
We theorize, at most, 1,900.00$ to 2,000.00$ on move-in day for complex.
On Thursday, they’re going to walk us through an itemized sheet of expenses, so I will be able to make this a bit more accurate then.
OUTSIDE OF APARTMENT THAT WE HAVE / INTEND TO SPEND:
1. Background check. We have spent 132.00$ for the quickest FBI background check for both my partner and I, using UPS.
2. Travel: Gas to get from Texas to Oklahoma, presumably 200-300, since we cannot rent a vehicle.
3. Finding Bunny a bed frame, a new twin mattress, etc. 180$ budget.
GOFUNDME FEES:
GoFundMe takes out a certain amount of funds from the donations. For example, at 735.00 raised, the breakdown the site offers showed it takes out 30.00 in transaction fees to GoFundMe. We may eventually have to adjust the goals to accommodate some of the fees GoFundMe takes out, but for now, we should be okay!
MISC:
A lot of our community was asking if we needed help with setting Bunny up with any clothes, bedding and furniture! That is so sweet of you. We won’t be in an immediate emergency past the 2,450.00$, but if any of you would like to help us get her set up you absolutely can, and we would appreciate it.
UPDATES:
Due to an intense amount of growth, updates will be posted in milestones / intervals!
