For Sebastian Woodroffe's Family
Sebastian "stood for freedom, playfulness, curiosity, loving nature, and sharing adventures with his beloved son, who meant the world to him" as one of his dear friends said so eloquently.
Anyone who knew Sebastian or had the honour of crossing paths with him can speak to his gentle spirit, his playful nature, his generosity to fellow beings, and his deep loving commitment to family and above all his son.
He was known for caring deeply about his community, giving you his last twenty dollars or the shirt off his back if you needed it. Taking care of others and facilitating healing was a calling Sebastian carried with him through life. There are many people who can share a story with you about Sebastian cooking them a meal, offering them a place to stay or checking up on them when they needed a friend.
Sebastian's death in Peru late this month has left a community and family reeling at the loss of a generous, gentle spirit. And now, in the spirit of Sebastian's dedication to supporting community and in honour of what he stood for, it is our turn to support his family as they move through the grief of his loss. One way we can help is through the financial support his young child, and his mother.
Funds raised will be used to support them in various ways, including but not limited to:
1. Providing the family with immediate financial assistance so that she may focus on supporting her son without worrying about covering their living costs and accessing services they require to support them such as counselling, etc.
2. Providing the family with long term financial support in the care and costs associated with raising his son and
3. If the family desires, to create a trust fund for Sebastian's son.
At the end of this campaign, all funds will be given to Sebastian's son's mother to allocate as she sees fit.
Those interested in depositing into a Trust Fund through a bank, please contact me for details. One is being set up shortly and I will share those details as they become available.
Who I am: I am a friend of the family and have known them for almost a decade. My favorite memory of Sebastian was when I gave birth to my daughter. Seb would show up at my home in the afternoons and offer to take her for long walks in her stroller so I could have a break and rest up. That's just the kind of guy he was!
