I am very excited to be the newest member of Team Sedna! The expedition is completely self-funded and will cost approximately $19,000. The cost may seem high but travelling up North is no easy task. So, in addition to this GoFundMe page, I will also be organizing fundraisers, as well as accepting sponsorship. As I acquire donations through other means, I will reduce the goal on this page. If you would like to be a sponsor, please do not hestitate to contact me for more information.
Any support is very appreciated, as you are funding not only a very big dream of mine but a very important project focused on women empowerment, reconciliation and climate change research. I couldn't be more grateful! Thank you!
The all-female 2014-2018 Sedna Epic Expedition is a multi-year underwater project—involving the study of climate change via snorkeling and diving—that takes places in Canada’s High Arctic. The Sedna Epic involves an international team of women ocean professionals working with Inuit and Inuvialuit girls and young women in the Arctic with a focus on health, wellness, environment and empowerment issues. During August 4 - 17, 2018, the Sedna Epic will visit two Inuit communities in Nunavut—Resolute Bay and Pond Inlet. Team Sedna will deliver its innovative ocean outreach program in these communities, bringing the ocean to eye level for Inuit youth and Elders via mobile touch aquariums that temporarily house with sea critters, by running underwater robot-building camps, and by deploying scuba divers wearing masks with underwater communications systems that enable them to speak to Inuit on the ocean’s surface.

When I started my career in ocean education, I never thought I would get an opportunity like this. I am passionate about the ocean and I am passionate about teaching others about how important it is to keep our oceans healthy. The findings from this expedition will be translated into educational and awareness programs on climate change and its effects on the arctic ecosystem. So, I can't wait to contribute to those programs. Also, being a part of an all-female project makes me very proud. This journey will serve to inspire women and girls to think ‘big’ and to follow their dreams, no matter how out-of-the-box they may seem .. so, I am very excited to be apart of that journey, as well.
Thank you again for your donations!
