Curtis Smith Funeral Expenses and Family Support

Curtis faught long and hard all week to pull through his traumatic injuries. Just moments after midnight our entire family was gathered along his bedside to say our goodbyes. We are reaching out for all of the support we can. We just found out that his work insurance will not cover the funeral expenses however WSIB might. After funereal costs are covered, all extra funds will be used to support Amanda, the baby and help my mom with bills during her time off.

This week we were faced with the biggest tragedy our family could ever imagine being faced with. My brother works for the City of Toronto as a Solid Waste Collection Operator, while at work Wednesday afternoon he was crushed between the back of the garbage truck and a tree. He was immediately rushed to an Emergency trauma center. He was in medically induced coma with suffering life threatening injuries. He was at risk for loosing his left arm, so far we are believed to be in the clear of that. He was being treated for 2 broken collar bones, a fractured jaw, 12 broken ribs and 2 punctured lungs. One of his major arteries are completely shredded and needed to be replaced. 

A week after the accident curtis's condition drastically changed. He entire body was filled with blood clots causing his kidneys to fail. His blood pressure was so slow that his heart stopped.

It completely breaks my heart as my brother has been working so hard to support his girlfriend Amanda, her son Lucca as well as their baby on the way. The amount of overtime he's been working in preparation for his growing family.
