Jack's Luxating Patella Surgery
Donation protected
I rescued Jack from a shelter when he was only 6 months old. Chase and I knew when we saw him that he was the one for us! We met him right after he had just gotten surgery to remove his hind dew claws. The dew claws were enlarged and were causing his bones in his legs and feet to grow improperly. He was still so happy and loving.
Jack is now 3 years old! He is the light of our life! He loves the beach, the dog park, playing with his toys, and chasing birds! He is an energetic dog with a fun-loving spirit. However, Jack has recently started to not enjoy these things. He is not able to run on the beach or at the dog park or sometimes even walk properly because his back hind leg causes him too much pain. Most of the time he limps.
We took Jack to the vet and after tests and Xrays, the vet told us the cause of the limp was due to a luxating patella. Luxating patella is not an injury to the leg but a condition that dogs can be born with. Jack's hind knee cap does not stay in place and does not stay in place when placed there. There are different grades based on how severe (Grade 1-4). Jack has a Grade 4. The vet recommended a vitamin for the mean time but told us surgery is needed to repair the leg and stablize the knee. The surgery will deepen the groove to place the knee cap in and place a pin in his knee for stablization.
It breaks my heart to see Jack in pain and I am hoping to receive your support for costs of pre-operation, surgery and post-operation! Any donation would be helpful and appreciated! I can't wait to ease Jack's pain so we are able to have a dog who enjoys life and can run on the beach again! Please help spread Jack's story by sharing this page! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
