This week, our country was shaken to its core by the senseless murder of 11 elderly Jews in prayer by a vicious anti-Semite. Our hearts are broken as a nation by this senseless act of violence, and it is with great sadness that all Jews must now look to protect ourselves from those sick individuals seeking the death of the innocent.
My name is Rabbi Moshe Langer - here at Chabad of San Francisco, we have built a haven for all Jews as they seek to explore their Jewish heritage in a safe, nurturing environment. Sadly, we are now faced with the difficult challenge of improving our security to make sure that all of our hundreds of members are safe and secure as Americans and Jews.
We now humbly and with the greatest of respect ask for your help to immediately improve the security of our Synagogue and make sure such a tragedy never happens in San Francisco on our watch.
We are seeking to raise $80,000 in total to improve the safety of our membership while they are in prayer and study at our facility. The first phase in this process will be $15,000 to cover the most pressing security needs, with the more in-depth measures to be put in place over the next few months.
All money raised in this campaign will be going specifically and exclusively to this - we are breaking down the costs as follows:
MOST URGENT, Phase 1:
Upgraded Security System and Installation $15,000
Ongoing, Phase 2: $65,000
Panic room, strong deadbolts
Safety Security Door
Metal plates on inside of bathroom door
Secure mail drop, 10 gauge steel
Harden security doors
Replace Synagogue window glass with bulletproof glass
Active Shooter training
Miscellaneous costs
Thank you in advance for your possible interest in helping us - may G-d bless you and your families with the safety all Americans deserve.
