Help us visit mom with cancer.

My mother was diagnosed with gastric cancer. The cancer is aggressive and will result in surgery to completely remove my mother's stomach. My mother is aged and over the past year has had astounding weight loss which only until recently could be attributed to the cancer as her former GP did not have her see a specialist despite her rapid weight loss. When my mother saw her new doctor he knew right away that she was in trouble and needed to see a specialist. It is possible that this delay could cost her her life as she went from arounf 140lbs to 103lbs in less than a year. The recommended surgery and her age and extreme loss of weight makes it high risk and if she were to survive the surgery, the recovery and chemotherapy may be too much for her frail body to handle. My mother is considering letting the cancer run it's course and spend as much time with her family why she still is mobile and has full use of her faculties. My wife and our 17 month old daughter need assistance travelling from Louisville, Kentucky to San Antonio, Texas. This is probably the last time we will see my mother and my mother would benefit greatly from being able to see and hold her granddaughter who she only saw once shortly after she was born. We are looking for any assistance anyone can give to make this trip possible. We would be forever grateful for any help you can offer. We are seeking assistance with fuel and decided that $500 would be adequate for a round trip and with driving once at our destination as needed. Our trip would depart Louisville and arrive at San Antonio. We have been offered a family van to use and lodging along the way so our main need would cash for fuel, both ways to San Antonio and back to Louisville. We expect to make this journey in late November our as soon as we are able to acquire the necessary funds for the trip.
