Wauwatosa West We the People 2016
Donation protected
This year, Wauwatosa West qualified to send a team to the National We The People competition for the tenth consecutive year. The We the People class is a nationwide curriculum which asks students to become "experts" testifying before judges in a simulated Congressional Hearing format. Students will research a total of 18 questions where they will write four minutes opening statement responses to the questions. They will then be asked follow-up questions pertaining to their topics for six minutes where students will use historical events, constitutional citations, Supreme Court decisions, and current events to cite as evidence for their stances on each question posed to them. The team score is made up of all six groups performances for the morning and afternoon sessions.
Due to congressional funding cuts, the class is in charge of fundraising their entire trip, which will take each of the 27 students and their seven mentors to Washington D.C. to represent the great state of Wisconsin at the April. Your contribution will help pay airfare, room and board, and competition fees for the entire class freeing up time for the students to focus their attentions on the academic side of preparations. If you leave your name and address with us we can send you a thank you letter and a tax deduction letter for your donation.
