Riggins local Tammy Flechsing (Travis), daughter of long time bank employee Cleo Travis needs our help! Late July this year Tammy wasn’t feeling great! She thought it was the usual sickness she had been dealing with for years but she hadn’t had any symptoms for months. Tammy was confident the doctors had all that under control but something still wasn’t right and she knew it! This was different than what she had felt before.

After Tammy opened up to her son Travis about how she was feeling he took her to McCall that morning! After initial tests the Doctors found 3 arteries  were 90% blocked, something they call a widow maker. Doctors told Tammy she was experiencing a massive heart attack and if she wouldn’t have gone to the ER when she did she would’ve died at home! Gratefully she listened to her body, her son Travis and went to the ER. Tammy was immediately lifeflighted to Boise and went in for emergency triple bypass heart surgery. 

Tammy was sent home to heal after the 1st surgery but complications came. Tammy is diabetic and it takes longer for her to heal. There was infection and Tammy was lifeflighted to Boise again and immediately went in for a 2nd emergency surgery to deal with the infection.   She was then transferred via ambulance to McCall and sent home a 2nd time to heal. 

Tammy has literally been broken wide open with a wound vac that requires a trip to McCall twice a week and requires daily shots to help fight off infection.

Naturally Tammy hasn’t been able to work while recovering from major heart surgery. Tammy lost her job and employers health insurance. The hits just kept coming and Tammy finally reached out for help, something Tammy has NEVER done before!

 Tammy has always been a quiet supporter of Riggins and the Salmon River Canyon Community. As a single Mother Tammy has worked hard her entire life, providing for her only child and helping out her mother Cleo. For years she was in charge of the Secret Santa Program giving to underprivileged families in the area. Tammy also organized the St Jude Bikeathon that helped kids with cancer! Always the quiet giver!!!

Tammy is committed to her health and is doing the best she can to get better. She has a very long road of recovery to manage. Tammy is holding on for her granddaughter Leighten age 3, her son Travis and her loving Mother Cleo.

While Tammy waits for some kind of disability to help her with living expenses the bills are piling up. She has a mortgage, the new health insurance to pay, prescriptions to fill and a 3rd surgery scheduled November 5.  

The economic stress on her, as you can imagine is not what a gal needs to help her recover! We know we won’t be able to raise enough to pay off all her medical bills but any donation will give the family some breathing room with additional expenses.
