Tasia Gartner

On Monday, June 19, 2017, SSG (R) Clay Ragsdale lost his daughter, Tasia Gartner, unexpectedly.

Tasia bounced around various households among drugs, crime and abuse until about age 10.  Along the way her father was sent to prison and mother passed away.  Her grandfather gained custody but when he could no longer care for her the State took her. This lead to a bleak outlook for Tasia's future until her cousin Lisa and Clay stepped up in 2011 and eventually gained permanent custody of Tasia.

They welcomed her into their home with their two other children and treated her as their own. Her future was looking much brighter. Tasia was involved in martial arts and was the first recipient of the Master Mitt Lenix Scholarship to pay for her future endeavors in karate. She had her entire future ahead of her and supportive parents, but was tragically cut short by a hit and run driver while she cross the street.

It is always difficult for a parent to have to bury their child and is unfathomable for those that have never had to. Many of us know Clay from our time in the military and through our personal lives.

Clay is tough but compassionate and would give the shirt off his back for a stranger in the street.

During this time of unexpected tragedy I ask, on Clay's behalf, to help support him and his family while they endure this trying time.
