Exiled Intersex Woman in Need Now!

Donation protected
Every donation helps. No matter how much. Thank you for caring!

My friend Tatenda Ngwaru is a brave, selfless, loving human being that has been exiled from her home in Zimbabwe because of these qualities. She is now seeking asylum in the U.S.

She had to escape from her home after being harassed, abused and threatened with death by authorities. Her supportive family was also in danger. Tatenda was targeted because she founded the first Transgender & Intersex rights/support group in Zimbabwe. You can read about her struggle here ...

She's working with Immigration Equality and appears to be on the path to getting employment authorization sometime this year. But the process is slow and uncertain. She has been in New York since August 2016 with no money and not able to work. While there are organizations providing legal help Tatenda has been unable to find any supporting day to day needs for asylum-seekers. Her immediate need is a suitable long-term independent living situation.

The goal of this campaign is to support Tatenda in building a new life. Because it is uncertain when she will be granted employment authorization our aim is to raise funds to support her for at least seven months. She devoted her life in Zimbabwe to helping others. Now she is the one in need of our help.
