TBR's Fight for Fair Use

Donation protected
Hello Everyone, this is Hugo and Jake, and we need your help.

As you probably know, we've had false DMCA's thrown at us non-stop for months. Recently, the Christiano Film Group (5 and 2 Pictures) falsely DMCA'd us for FIVE different videos! None of which, by the way, violate the DMCA.

We've Had Enough.

We are tired of filmmakers trying to silence dissenting voices, especially on YouTube, where Fair Use/Free Speech have fallen victim to the sensibilities of the offended. We are raising money to take the Christiano Film Group to court, defend our livlihood, and set an example.

We're fighting for our channel, of course, but also the dozens of other channels that have come to us in the past months, telling us that the Christiano Film Group has abused the DMCA system on YouTube, limiting YouTube upload times, making sure "bad" reviews get deleted, or altogether shutting channels down. The targeted abuse by that company, specifically, has affected many of us, and we're not just taking it anymore.

Here's where you come in. We have contacted FUPA (Fair Use Protection Account), which was spearheaded by h3h3 Productions here on YouTube. There, we got a hold of Michael Lee, one of the head lawyers of FUPA, and he gave us the following numbers:

$5,000- To start. This gets us a lawyer on retainer, and they can begin the process of getting the suit served, negotiations, and other preliminary things necessary for this. WE NEED THIS ASAP.

$50,000- Half Way. This is roughly the half-way point, as copyright cases are far more complicated than they may seem. We'll need this for the obvious stuff like lawyer fees and legal expenses, but also travel costs for the attorneys, and possibly ourselves, depending on how the case plays out.

$100,000- This should, unless for some reason this went to the Supreme Court, cover every possible expense including possible/probable appeals, more lawyer fees, more travel, and other legal expenses. If every one of our fans donated $1, we'd have this and more in hours.

According the our conversation with Michael, we have an INCREDIBLY solid case. The problem is, sadly, we're atheists making crass remarks toward a Christian film company. This is the sad reality. It's entirely possible to get a religious judge that doesn't side with us, in which case we'll have to appeal and win another day. This said, we are very confident not only in our rights to Fair Use, but also Michael and the entire team over at FUPA. This will help set precedent for future DMCA cases, paving the way to (hopefully) a more free set of free speech rights.

Please help us win this fight.
