Linda Lynn, SC Flood Victim
Donation protected
My name is Matt Lynn. My mom, Linda Lynn, has lost everything inside her home from the terrible flooding last week in S.C. Since Friday, family members, friends and volunteers have been working non-stop to gut the entire house and leave just the interior woodwork. Hopefully this will dry and she will be able to rebuild the house, as there appears to be very little structural damage.
Unfortunately, my mom did not have any flood insurance. We never imagined that anything this difficult could happen in her neigborhood.
Many people have been asking what she needs. Thankfully she has so many good friends and family to support her, and she has a place to stay indefinitely. What she needs most now is monetary support to rebuild her house.
This is the house that my mom grew up in. My grandfather designed and built the house on Burwell Lane. My cousins and I spent so much of our childhood in this house. There were so many photos, dating back to the late 1800s, geneological documents, diaries, letters and other important memories that were lost forever. We know we cannot get most of these back, but having the money to rebuild the house will be an important part of the healing process.
My mom was a high-school teacher for almost 40 years, spending most of her career at A.C. Flora High School in Richland County School District 1. She served so many in the community and can still remember the names of almost all of her students. Please consider giving her some help with repairing everything that she has lost.
