Please help us fight Leukemia 4 Sam

Donation protected
Samantha Marie is a spunky, creative, smart, and fun-loving 9 year old girl who was recently medevacked from Guam to UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital in Los Angeles, California.  On December 15, 2015, Samantha was admitted to Guam Memorial Hospital.  They determined through analysis of her blood that she required a blood and platelet transfusion.  Additional pre-diagnosis determined Samantha was in need of a bone marrow biopsy whereas she would be required to be flown off-island because it was expected that treatment would be needed almost immediately.

Prior to leaving Guam on December 21, 2015, she had undergone numerous blood and platelet transfusions to stabilize her transport to Los Angeles.  Once at UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital she underwent numerous procedures to help determine the form of leukemia she has.  During the holidays she remains in good spirits while fighting off pneumonia and stabilizing heavy bleeding from the recent procedures.  Due to the holiday season and scheduling of resources at the hospital, pathology results will not be available until Monday, December 28th or at the latest, Tuesday, December 29th.  The family has been anxiously waiting for results so doctors can determine the correct path of treatment.  Doctors believe she may have a rare form, “Hybrid” type, of Leukemia that will take months to treat.  Once results are in we will update this page to inform friends and family and all concerned about our Dear Samantha.
