10th Team Dai Challenge 2017
Every year, Vientiane's Team Dai cycling team embarks on a multi-day cycling tour to raise funds for a local cause. 2017 will be the 10-year anniversary of this event, and 20 riders will be doing their longest and toughest-ever ride. We’ll cover more than 600 km over five days between Vientiane and Luang Prabang!
Quality of Life Association Xien Khouang
During the nine years up to 1973, the US dropped more than two million tons of ordnance on Laos, about as much as all Allied Forces together in World War 2, making Laos the most heavily bombed country per capita on earth. Over 20,000 people have been killed or injured here by leftover unexploded ordnance (UXO) in the decades since the bombing ceased, and there are still casualties up to this day. Xieng Khouang Province in northern Laos is one of the most heavily affected places. Quality of Life Association Xieng Khouang provides much-needed medical, education and livelihood programs to UXO victims and people with disabilities in and around the province. This inspiring non-profit association is led and managed by Lao people for Lao people, with several of its board of directors UXO survivors themselves.
