It’s been a very difficult 6 yrs for my family. Between my wife and I we’ve had 12 surgeries.  Through the summer again Sherri and I had some medical issues. It’s come to a head with the understanding that Sherri’s rare cancer has returned. The doctors have placed a plan before us, chemo with hope of controlling the cancers spread. Then “the mother of all surgeries” again. There is so much detail that I can get into….but sufficed to say….Stage  4 Metastatic Goblet Cell Carcinoma…is not a good scenario. Being that this cancer is so rare the only chemo’s available are 2 used for colon cancer. She’s had one, in the past, so that only leaves one. Neither of these chemos definitively work for this cancer. GCC creates many tiny tumours which spread through the abdomen which are near impossible to see on a CAT scan. This makes knowing if chemo is working a problem. Sherri does want to look into alternative treatments as her last dealing with chemo was very difficult.

Our girls are 6 and 3. They're young enough not to understand cancer but old enough to know something’s wrong. I worry for them, in the short term and crushingly for the long term.

I have my own medical issues, one related to my eyesight. I’ve had 2 surgeries on my left eye this summer to try and reattach my retina. My eye is still having issues with bleeding and I currently have no vision in it. My eyes are not in good shape. I have High Myopic Macular Degeneration in both eyes and that could easily lead to blindness in both eyes.

Financially we are strapped. We’ve been a single income household for over 5 yrs now….and we are scraping by with family help. For example, my mother in law, who lives with us, has gone back to work to help us.

*Sherri would like to seek out some Alternative Natural Therapies to help fight the cancer or help ease the issues from it. Some of these therapies are costly.

*She would also like us to take our daughters to DisneyWorld for the first time to create a special family memory for them.

I can and will provide more details so that you can understand the struggles that we’ve faced for so long….but I needed to get this campaign started. I’ll update this with the stories of what has got us to this point.

I was brought up in a proud hardworking family. When my father came to Canada many years ago he didn’t accept the charity offered to him, he got to work. Yet here I am, begging, I don’t’ know what to do anymore. It seems as though no matter what I do the ship is still sinking. I come to work everyday. I try and be a good father and husband. Honestly, 6 years of hell is a long time…we won’t give up….but we’re so tired of fighting.
