13th Thanksgiving in the Harbor

Now let’s talk about the 13th Annual Thanksgiving in the Harbor is located on D Street between Avalon Blvd. & Maine Ave. on Thanksgiving Day 11/25/2021 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm.
This is a yearly event with a collaborative community effort that brings together the Office of Councilman Joe Buscaino, The Rodriguez and Osorio Families, The Sunshine Club, Maya Family Restaurant, students from Phineas Banning High School, Phineas Banning High School’s CP Magnet, San Pedro & Peninsula Wilmington YMCA Youth & Government, The Boys and Girls Club of Los Angeles Harbor Wilmington, Los Angeles Harbor College, our local government agencies, and numerous organizations, companies, individuals and families from both inside and outside of the community map to collect, prepare and serve a hot Thanksgiving meal with all the fixings toiletries and other basic necessities on Thanksgiving Day in attendance as well to those who cannot attend due to lack of family, transportation, mobility and medical constraints, caring for an individual in the household or other inabilities as well few homeless community members.
Banning High Schools students and their families are provided a thanksgiving basket or other food arrangements tailored to their living situation with extra food to assistant any food insecurities during the holiday break.
We are all going through something that is way bigger than we could even think about both physically and mentally. We cannot let a pandemic like COVID-19 take away all our normalcy that existed before it appeared. Through self-care we must find what is needed to overcome the difficulties this pandemic has caused. One way of self-care is through the selfless giving to others no matter how small. The rewards will be given back to you twice at good. Selfless giving through time, food, or money makes a difference in the world which feels so unstable currently. You can make an impact.
