“Show me a hero and I will write you a tragedy.” - F. Scott Fitzgerald
What you need to know about Carolann Gerasci...
She was more than a teacher. She was an educator in and out of the classroom. She lived out her most important teachings and as a result, left a lasting impact on those who were fortunate to have crossed her path. Love, faith, kindness, and gratitude merely scratch the surface on the education she placed value in and imparted to so many. Carolann was the definition of love - radiating joy with a smile so infectious, even on a bad day, she was able to lift your spirits.
Carie, as many knew her, battled brain cancer for 20 years. Over the course of her battle, she endured several rounds of chemotherapy, (3) craniotomies, (2) rounds of radiation, and countless side effects due to the cancer and treatment. Not once did a "Why me?" ever leave her lips. A saying she favored and shared with so many - "In all things be grateful, in all things be thankful". And she wholeheartedly meant it. She thanked God for all her joys and misfortunes, everything was a blessing in her eyes. Every day was a gift.
She served as a beacon of hope to so many, and was the epitome of a true warrior. Selfless and gentle by nature, her problems were never a problem, just a misadventure that would be conquered through faith and optimism. Carie had a zest for life with a magnetic personality. An ongoing joke between close friends and family was how she made friends wherever she went. People were drawn to her - as if an otherworldly being, Carie to so many was an angel on earth. Imparting her wisdom, her heart, her strength... we are all better having known her.
The Carolann Gerasci Scholarship Fund and why you should donate...
Adoringly coined "Mrs. G" by her students... she was a devoted teacher at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic School and sincerely loved her students. She dedicated so many years to enriching the lives of those children and treated them as if they were her very own. To honor her legacy, Carolann's family is excited to be partnering with St. Vincent to create a scholarship fund. The Carolann Gerasci Scholarship Fund would be granted to children experiencing hardships in their lives. Carolann was always a firm believer in living above your circumstances, and we believe that this scholarship would aid children and their families yearning to do just that!
The details are still pending and we plan on updating this page with new information very soon. It is our goal to raise as many funds as we can to ensure this scholarship fund lives on beyond our lifetime, making a difference in the lives of so many children, and keeping Carolann's legacy alive.
The world lost an incredible woman on May 23, 2018 but as Carolann would agree, there are treasures in our trials. She was an angel to so many and she officially gained her wings. May she live on in our hearts, our fond memories, and through this small way of paying it forward to others in need - the Carolann Gerasci Scholarship Fund.
*Note from the family: we thank you immensely for lifting us up through your encouraging, comforting words, through prayer, and by your generous contributions. Carolann was an extraordinary friend, remarkable mother, doting wife, and a stranger to no one. Our hearts ache with her loss, but we find peace in knowing she is in a better place, out of pain, running through the streets of gold - no cane, walker, or wheelchair in sight! She danced through life, she fervently lived and loved each day, and taught us all a great deal.
“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
... And that is exactly what Carolann was... everlasting, raw, sincere, utter love.
