The Christian Left’s Mission to a Border Check-Point and the El Paso Walmart
The Christian Left is sending a contingent to represent you! Charles Toy (President and Founder) and Rev. Mark Sandlin (Vice President and Co-Founder) will be joining other faith leaders and lawmakers in El Paso, TX and Las Cruces, NM next week, September 5-6, 2019! Charles will be traveling from Portland, Oregon to El Paso and Mark will be traveling from Greensboro, NC to El Paso. They’ll be meeting at the El Paso airport on Wednesday.
They plan to wear ‘The Christian Left’ shirts for part of the event, take pictures and post them to TCL's page, broadcast live from the event on Facebook and post the video to TCL's page, and when they return they’re going to blog about the whole thing and post their story to TCL's page. You will be fully involved and represented!
It has taken years to get involved with the right people but now we're in a position to dramatically increase our in-person activism! We're going to need your help with this expansion of activity. We don't have any big donors or corporate sponsors. We're a user sustained community. You make all this happen with your support.
The Christian Left doesn’t maintain any kind of travel fund so we need your help. Charles and Mark traveled to Los Angeles representing The Christian Left earlier this summer as well. They met with the Executive Team of Vote Common Good and established a strategic partnership. In fact this event is being organized by Vote Common Good and NM Comunidades en Acción y de Fé – CAFé.
They also plan to attend a Faith In Voting event in Iowa in November and participate in some part of a Vote Common Good bus tour next year.
The El Paso event next week will include:
1. a first-hand experience at the border check-point in Hatch, New Mexico;
2. a public meeting with Federal Lawmakers around current and proposed border laws, practices, and policies;
3. a vigil of solidarity and support at the Walmart Memorial Site in El Paso with those impacted by the mass shooting and immigration policy.
Mark and Charles will represent The Christian Left ministry and community for two days of engagement, empathy, and meaningful activism!
Please make a contribution to the travel fund! We’ve been wanting to get out there and get active for years! Now is our chance and we’ll keep you fully involved!
Just below is the event website for 'Faith Leaders Gather At The Border.' Scroll down to the bottom of this page and you'll see Charles Toy and Mark Sandlin listed as taking part in the event! They can't wait to get down there and participate on your behalf!
