The Dusenbury Adoption Story
Donation protected
We can't really start this story without saying how grateful we are to God for bringing us together and creating our family! We spent many of our years wondering whether marriage and family was in the cards for us, but God was growing and preparing us the whole time. He used a mission trip to Africa in November 2012 to start a love story that led to marriage in April 2014. In August 2015, he expanded that story by bringing Emsley into the world. And suddenly, we were three!
Adoption has always been "on the radar" for us. We just weren't sure when or how it would become part of our story. As we wrestled with the timing of a future adoption, we were advised that it is unlikely we will be able to have other biological children. We can only believe and trust that God is already many steps ahead of us, opening the door to adoption. He knows our next family member inside and out and has led us to believe now is the time.
After much prayer and thought, we feel led to grow our family by adopting a child from China who will have some level of special needs. Our hearts desire another opportunity to love a child, and we're overjoyed at the prospect of Emsley having a sibling to bond and grow with. While we are glad to help an orphan, we know that it's really our entire family who will benefit from growing in this way.
Our adoption will likely be finalized sometime in Spring or Summer of 2019, but there are lots of fees and expenses along the way. Your donation will be applied to expenses directly related to our adoption. From adoption agency and home study fees, to dossier preparation and travel, the list is long and the ask is high.
We are grateful mostly and firstly for your prayers, and anything you can put towards this lofty goal is an amazing bonus to us. Please be in prayer that our child overseas would be loved well by orphanage workers and/or foster parents, that God's timing would be perfect, and that bonding would happen in His time as well.
We know that it's God who will do this, and we know He has asked us to bring our community around us as part of His story in this. Thank you for reading, praying, and considering.
Several gracious donors have come forward offering to match each gift given in this campaign until we reach our goal of $22,500, which is why the goal for this campaign is half of that amount. Simply put, this means that any amount you give is doubled in helping us in this adoption story! Any amounts raised above our goal will go toward medical expenses once we are home.
