The GGC's Elevated Garden
Donation protected
who we are: The Getting Grown Collective (GGC) is a multigenerational group of people with diverse experiences and backgrounds who care about the development of the Southside of Chicago.
what we stand for: The GGC is committed to identifying, inspiring and sustaining community-initiated, growth-related projects.
what we hope to become: Our vision is to be organized and disciplined in our collective effort to develop, maintain and improve the communities we inhabit. We hope to plant seeds that will provide our youth the skills and confidence necessary to be self-sufficient in an unpredicatble future.
project #1: THE ELEVATED GARDEN will be built in the Englewood community and is the blueprint for transforming vacant, unused land to spaces that allow people in the neighborhood to learn gardening techniques so they can provide food for themselves in a low-cost, healthy way. Land Space= 125x50
project #2: DOUBLE VACANT LOT- COMMUNITY USEFUL SPACE, located on the same block as THE ELEVATED GARDEN, is the blueprint for converting vacant, unused land to spaces that allow people in the neighborhood to convene, workshop and learn healthy lifestyle options through various class offerings. Land Space=125x50
***projects #1 & 2 work to unite former and current residents of the Englewood community while also encouraging more community-based land development projects in the neighborhood***
what your support means to us: EVERYTHING. This is a grassroots movemeant birthed from a desire to make our community's inherent skills, talents and knowledge accessible and affordable.
In an effort to avoid allotment fees and remain donation-based, our collective is reaching out via GOFUNDME to get started!
The GGC, Englewood, Chicago and anyone committed to the existence of humane values in an ever advancing technological world are extremely grateful for your time, prayers and encouragement.
Special thanks to Harrison Smith for allowing us the use of his land, knowledge and support!
Peace and Love,
The GGC
