The Helping Hoodie
Donation protected
As you may or may not know, my cousin was diagnosed with autism when he was 2. Although this was a life-changing diagnosis, he has not let anything stop him from achieving his dreams. This year, my friends and I decided to help kids and adults with autism like my cousin by creating and designing the Helping Hoodie. This hoodie will include multiple features to help kids cope with sensory overload, a sensation commonly associated with autism when the body's senses experiences over-stimulation from the environment for example from bright lights or loud noises. We will be working with our community partner Larry, a young adult living in Denton with us who is also on the autism spectrum, throughout our processes. We would like to use this project and present it in the 2019 Project Invent competition taking place in Silicon Valley, May 2019. All donations will be used to help transport us from our small hometown of Denton, Texas to California and make our dream to help all people with autism come true.
