The Hitching Post Fire
Donation protected
William Carmichael and Trisha Mills moved to Hedley to follow a dream. They left a life behind in Kamloops BC to become restaurateurs at the beautiful historic Hitching Post Restaurant. They had the support of previous owners Brenda and Wilson who had stayed on for a few months to show them the ropes. William and Trisha worked hard and put their hearts into their new venture. They Loved The Hitching Post and their new home. On Oct 23rd around 2:00 am a fire broke out trapping them on the top right hand corner of the building. Trapped, they had no choice but to jump approximately 20 feet to the ground shattering many bones. They were pulled to safety as neither of them could walk. Our community is extremely impacted by this huge loss, the centre piece of our town. William and Trisha didn't just lose everything, this was their future, a dream.
They both have long roads to recovery, many expenses ahead such as rehabilitation, wheel chairs and every day living .We as a community are behind them, but they'll need financial support as well. Please keep them in your thoughts.
