Our beautiful friend Jen is a joyful 38 year-old mother of three gorgeous children; Niamh, 11, Jack, 9 and Samuel, 7 and married to the love of her life, Chris.
Jen and Chris’s whole world was turned upside down in 2012 when Jen was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Jen had to undergo brain surgery to remove the bulk of the tumour and since then she has had to endure radiotherapy and chemotherapy as well as suffering from on-going speech difficulties as a result of her illness.
Through all of these huge hurdles, Jen has maintained her uniquely positive outlook and continued to live life to the full, with her adored family at the centre and heart of everything that herself and Chris do. She and Chris have been helped hugely by her fantastic mum, Judy, who moved from South Africa to Scotland to help the family during Jen’s illness and treatment.
Tragically, however, Jen and Chris have recently been told that Jen’s tumour is back and this time it is not treatable.
As friends of Jen and Chris we cannot even begin to comprehend what this is like for Jen, for Chris and for their family.
However, the one thing we can do is to try and help them in any way possible. Jen has been unable to work for years due to her illness and Chris is self-employed. The whole family relies on Chris’s income to pay for all their household bills and needs.
As Jen’s condition worsens, Chris will need to be at home more and more with Jen and the kids and the last thing that any family should have to worry about in this awful situation is paying bills. The focus needs to be on Jen, Chris and their three young children being together as a family.
And that is why we have set up this Gofundme page.
If you have lost someone to cancer, be it a family member or friend, you’ll appreciate how horrendous this time can be. If you have ever been sick or out of work, you’ll understand the stress and anxiety of wondering how you’re going to pay your bills.
The aim of this campaign is to at least eliminate one source of anxiety so that Jen, Chris and their families can focus on the things that matter in the next few weeks and months. It doesn’t matter how much or how little you donate – it genuinely does all add up.
Please spread the word, share this page as much as possible and keep Jen, Chris, Niamh, Jack, Samuel and all their families in your thoughts.
