October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The Last Shred of Daylight is the story of the abused wife of a tenant farmer who thinks she has nothing to live for when her husband abandons her and their failing farm.
The lives of Dex and Marla Clayton, isolated on their failing farm, unravel after a traumatic loss. Dex blames Marla for the personal loss they suffered and takes his anger and frustrations out on her, keeping her isolated on their farm.
When an opportunity for work arises, Dex abandons Marla and the farm. Thinking she has nothing to live for, Marla contemplates suicide. As she makes her preparations, a young neighbor approaches Marla for help.
The Story:
The theme of the story is universal - when one door closes, another one opens. The Last Shred of Daylight stems from that moment of despair when you think all is lost and you can’t see beyond your present misery.
The Last Shred of Daylight won the New York Film & TV Festival 2017 for best short script and was a finalist in three other contests.
Movies should tell a story that mesmerizes and draws us into a world we can relate to, whether in the past, present or future. It is an amazing thing to watch an idea grow from a story outline to the opening film credit and I am excited to be part of the growing number of female directors in the film industry.
I have always been a writer and spent much of my career writing legal briefs and as a trial coordinator for a major law firm.
I started screenwriting because I have stories to tell. I took filmmaking to become a better screenwriter and fell in love with the art of filmmaking. I use all the skills of my past to enhance the stories in my films.
The Last Shred of Daylight will be my sixth time as writer and director. My previous films are on my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=jackie%2Fjaclyn+powell and Amazon.
We are in preproduction on The Last Shred of Daylight and are ready to film. Till Neumann, http://www.tillneumanncine.com, is our cinematographer, and Joel Diamond, https://www.joeldiamondmusic.com, is my composer and original sound designer.
Our actors are: Kristen Brody as Marla Clayton, https://www.kristenbrody.com/, Kyle Ingleman as Dex , https://pro-labs.imdb.com/name/nm1237962/, Dane West as Parker, https://pro-labs.imdb.com/name/nm9048461/ and Joe Cummings as Parker's Dad, Jim, https://pro-labs.imdb.com/name/nm3036095/.

We hope you jointhe team, Fledgling Film Productions, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7C3myZrWM2o, by donating to our campaign.
What We Need:
To make this movie in a way that does justice to the story, we need to raise $10,000.00 for equipment, insurance and transportation. For post-production and entry into the festival circuit, we estimate we will need an additional $10,000.00, which is why the campaing will continue after filming. This is a festival winning film and it needs to be seen.
What You Get:
The most important perk is the movie itself! You will receive a digital copy of the film and a copy of the original soundtrack. Other donation levels include a copy of the poster with original artwork by Bob Hogan, a T-shirt, a chance to attend a film festival with me or in my place where I/we can’t attend - and we are submitting to Cannes, Venice, Sundance, Toronto, Palm D’Or, et al.!
Other Ways To Help:
I/we realize that donating to this campaign may not be something you are able to do at this time. However, there are other ways you can help: Share this campaign on social media. Share it with your friends, tell a neighbor - sharing is caring!
Thank you for reading about our campaign. We will be posting video updates every step of the filmmaking process! If you have any questions about the film or the campaign, please don't hesitate to contact me. Jackie/Jaclyn
