Excitement turned to minor heartbreak when I began working on the new studio space for the Legendarium. We've been promising all of you for a while now that we would get into making some great video content. We want to fulfill on that promise.
The plan was to turn the shop in my back yard into a space for us to use as the new studio.
Charming, right? But it turns out the shop is very old, very poorly made, and extremely unsafe. It has to come down.
What was going to be an expensive remodel is now going to be an extremely expensive rebuild. We'll need your help, since our regular Patreon donations won't cover this, at least certainly not in the time frame we need. (With a Utah winter coming on, I need to complete this project fast.)
I have no intention, by the way, of building some sort of luxury outbuilding. This thing will be simple and functional. But it will also be built right, and that takes a bit of coin.
Your help is sorely needed, and will be much appreciated. And it will not go unrewarded. For every dollar you donate, you will receive one vote for the next series we read. The choices are as follows:
The Kingkiller Chronicle, by Patrick Rothfuss
A Song of Ice and Fire, by G.R.R. Martin
Gentleman Bastard, by Scott Lynch
Codex Alera, by Jim Butcher
Red Rising, by Pierce Brown
When you donate, you'll be given a chance to comment. Put your vote in that comment.
Voting will continue at least through October, with a possible extension if needed. Choose which series you want us to read next, and let your generosity communicate your level of desire! (You can vote for something not on this list, but it may be less likely to win.)
Please know that whatever you decide to donate to this project, you will have won our gratitude. The Legendarium is becoming a bigger, badder, better project than we ever expected when we started it, thanks to our listeners. Involving you in this expansion is not only necessary, it feels right.
Thanks for your help.
