The Roommate Contract (Web Series)

In a world filled with stress, who doesn't need some fun rom-com energy in their life? In this New York-based web-series, we follow Nathan and Aiysha as they try to avoid their feelings to maintain a drama-free apartment - short, sweet, funny, and oh-so-relateable. #TheRoommateContract

I love romcoms. Yes, they’re cheesy and predictable but they also have a magical ability to make us laugh, cry, root for the couple, and inspire hope that we can all find love in this crazy world. My goal is to do this AND show diversity AND an accurate representation of healthy relationships.

We started this project as part of my 1-Year Producing program at New York Film Academy. I have now graduated and are trying to expand on it and complete the series with my incredible cast and crew. Not only am I really proud of the work we created but we also had a lot of fun making it!

Have you ever found yourself caught in the sticky web of emotions, knowing deep down that you probably shouldn't be feeling that way? Tried to convince yourself it's just a fleeting moment of insanity? Well, welcome to Aiysha and Nathan's rollercoaster of romantic misadventures – a relatable saga for anyone who's ever had feelings for someone they don’t want to. In this delightful web series, join them as they dance through the chaos of denying what their hearts truly desire, all while juggling the unpredictable challenges of life in the bustling streets of New York.

Aiysha and Nathan, armed with a determination to suppress their undeniable chemistry, embark on a quest to avoid the inevitable pull they feel toward each other. Why, you ask? Well, the consequences are dire – and by dire, I mean the horror of hunting for a new apartment in the city that never sleeps! As any seasoned New Yorker can attest, finding the perfect abode is not for the faint of heart.

Their escapades include a series of hilariously disastrous dates. They even attempt to divert their attention by dating other people, but when you share a roof with someone, the universe seems to conspire against your best efforts. Cue awkward encounters, like accidentally stumbling upon a roommate in their birthday suit – talk about an "oops" moment!

So, buckle up for a laughter-infused journey through the tangled web of emotions, where Aiysha and Nathan navigate the treacherous waters of denying their feelings, all while trying to survive the concrete jungle of New York. After all, in a city that never sleeps, neither does the drama – or the chance of stumbling upon your roommate in compromising situations!

Is this the best romantic comedy? Will it be the next ‘Harry Met Sally’? Will it go viral? I don’t know. But what I do know is that my cast and crew and I have put our heart and soul into making this web series. Our goal is to make our audiences laugh, fall in love with the characters, root for the couple, connect with the characters and just enjoy it. I hope that when those credits roll, the person watching it feels like they were able to escape the difficulties of life for 10 minutes and just have a good time.
