The Water Stand Project

Hello my name is Erin Austin and I’m the mother of an 8-year old girl named Jordan and a young son. Today I’m raising money to help create a resource for underprivileged people in the San Francisco area needing assistance with costs related to starting a business.
As many of you know, on June 22nd my daughter witnessed an unfortunate incident involving an angry neighbor. She was very confused and worried afterwards, but thankfully our community and even strangers have reached out online and through family members to let her know everything is fine and that she wasn’t doing something bad. Since the incident, the out-pouring of support has been overwhelming. We are so grateful. Lots of folks are asking us how to help, and that’s where the idea for creating The Water Stand Project came from.
Seeing my children live their dreams is the only thing that matters to me. I’ve been a single mom Jordan’s entire life, and it hasn’t always been easy for her or my son. I worked my way back from welfare years ago. I was proud to have a job that helped me afford a better life for my kids and help the underprivileged society in San Francisco, but the Bay Area is really expensive so even working full-time sometimes it was hard to make ends meet. Jordan has always been so positive. On the day I lost my job she sat with me and told me not to worry. It’s hard knowing that my child seems to worry about me, but that’s her nature and that's why she ended up outside selling water. She cares so much about other people and it's been amazing seeing the world care back this week.
My family is like a lot of families in the San Francisco area. We want the best for our children and so we work lots of hours and we try to do everything we can to make sure they have what they need. If we can use this Go Fund Me page to help even 1 more child find a way to have a legal business and avoid and future #PermitPatty then this whole thing will be worth it!
