The Women's Quilt
The Women's Quilt was inspired by the 598 women who were killed by their partners or ex-partners between 2009 and 2015.
Our object is to raise awareness of domestic abuse and to commemorate those women. You can find our project group on Facebook- search 'The Women's Quilt '.
The project has inspired women and men throughout the UK to create patches with one of the women's names on it. UPDATE: All the names have been claimed and squares are being sewn and created for every woman on the list! Please visit our facebook group to find out more.
We already have had invitations to display the quilt at venues across the country. We are looking to launch the quilt for International Women's Day at the House of Commons. Up to now this has all been done by volunteers and we have needed no funding.
We now seek funding to help pay for materials to back and finish the quilt, to pay launch expenses, particularly travel and to pay for postage and package when our quilt goes on it's travels. Any funding left over will be donated to Women's Aid. Thank you.
