Theatre & Society NYC Class Trip
Donation protected
Dixie State University's 2018 "Theatre and Society" performance-making course, taught by Dr. Kathryn Syssoyeva, is focused on modern and contemporary drama that engages our most urgent social and political concerns: religion, gender, race, sexuality, class, violence and disability. The class is traveling to New York April 1-9; there, in addition to seeing socially engaged plays (on and off Broadway), we will tour the Public Theatre, explore two graduate theatre programs, take part in a performance-making workshop and meet with theatre professionals (both young and more established) for conversations about building a life in the theatre. This trip will help students learn the tools needed bring about social change through theatre, and immerse them in experiential active learning.
The students in the Theatre and Society course are fiercely dedicated to academics, jobs, internships and extra-curricular activities. The students will be immensely grateful for financial help in New York with the range of costs: goods, services, restaurants, AirBnB, transportation etc. The students will express their indebtedness to the community for believing in their work and kindly contributing to their future in the Arts.
Please and Thank You!
